Ormoc City is touted as the “Beauty by the Bay” and is one of the progressive cities in Leyte, second only to Tacloban City, the province’s capital.

Ormoc City is my hometown and I am proud to be born and to live there. Today though, I now live and work in Cebu. My latest trip to Ormoc City was last New Year of 2012.Now, I am giving you (tourists, travelers, backpackers) a guide of at least 10 places you must see when you are in Ormoc City.
1. Ormoc City Tourism Office
It is located at the entrance of the Supercat terminal at the pier area.
You can ask for a guide or some information on how to go about the city.
2. New Ormoc City Hall
Probably one of the country’s newest, biggest, and most modern city hall.
3. Leyte Geothermal Production Fields
It is located at Tongonan, Ormoc City. It is one of the world’s World’s largest wet steamfield.

4. Lake Danao Natural Park
It is also known as Lake Imelda (named after the former First Lady, Imelda Marcos).
It is the greatest nature attraction in Ormoc. You can do camping, biking, hiking, boating, and swimming in the park.

5. Alto Peak
It is the highest mountain in Region VIII or in the Eastern Visayas area.
It can be climbed from Cabingtan, Ormoc City.

6. Ormoc City Sea Wall, Veteran’s and Centennial Park, Ormoc City Superdome, Children’s Park, Philippine-Japan Peace Memorial Park
These landmarks are located at the central part of the city where you can relax and see the Ormocanons doing about their daily business.

7. Leyte Golf and Country Club
It is located at Macabug, Ormoc City that’s for a taste of golf and fun.8. JICA Flood Mitigation Project and Riverwalk. It is a testament to Ormoc’s efforts to control flooding problems in the city. It is best to go there at night for a walk.9. Sal Pineapple Ormoc Pasalubong Center, Young Attitudes, Ormoc’s Best Spend your leisure time in these places for a taste of Ormoc’s delicious delicacies. Also buy a pasalubong for your family and friends.

10. Sal’s Beach Resort, Sabin Resort Hotel, Bantigue Beach Resort
These are located at Bantigue, Ormoc City.
Take a swim, unwind, and enjoy the beautiful sunset at Ormoc Bay.
